Local High School Coaches Become Certified in Concussion Reduction Training

Coaches from West Seneca East Senior High School are the first from a Western New York school to become certified in Primordial Strength Inc.’s Concussion Reduction Basic Neck Training as part of their football strength training certification, according to Primordial President Steven Helmicki. Concussion certification and explosive power endurance certification is available for all sports and can be taught in your school.

Special Education: What's It All About?

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A workshop presented by the Parent Network of WNY will enable participants to learn how to become an effective parent member of the Committee on Special Education (CSE) or Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE).

Those who attend the "Special Education: What's it All About?" workshop will gain a better understanding of the special education system, learn how to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and also learn what to expect at a Committee on Special Education (CSE) or Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) meeting in their school district.

Aaron Podolefsky Formally Installed as Buffalo State’s Eighth President

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Aaron Podolefsky was formally installed as the eighth president of Buffalo State College on Friday, Oct. 29.  The historic rite, which was held on campus in the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall, was attended by more than 800 guests, including former presidents Muriel Howard and Bruce Johnstone, SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher, area leaders, students, faculty and staff.

For his inaugural theme, Podolefsky selected, “Celebrate, Serve, Imagine: The Promise of Buffalo State College” to honor Buffalo State’s legacy and his commitment to affordable, accessible higher education, the role of Buffalo State as the “college that serves the city,” and the importance of transcending current economic challenges.

Canisius College to Host Open House October 23

BUFFALO, NY - Canisius College will host an Open House for prospective undergraduate students on Saturday, October 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the college’s campus located on Main Street in Buffalo, New York.

Faculty, administrators and students will be on hand to greet prospective students interested in any of 75 majors offered by the college through the Richard J. Wehle School of Business, the School of Education & Human Services and the College of Arts & Sciences. Parents of students are also encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is strongly recommended. Students and parents may also register the day of the event at the college’s Montante Cultural Center on Main Street at Eastwood Place.

The program includes campus tours, academic presentations by faculty, and information involving financial aid, student life and the admissions process. Students can also learn out about service immersion and research and internship opportunities.

Holy Angels Academy Invites Girls and Their Families to Fall Open House

Holy Angels Academy will host fall Open Houses on Saturday, October 2 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and Monday, October 4 from 5 - 7 p.m.  We invite girls in grades 5th - 8th and their families to tour our campus and meet teachers and students while learning more about our academic and extra-curricular opportunities.  

Holy Angels also invites 8th graders to participate in the "Anglel for a Day" program.  This allows girls to see firsthand what a typical day is like here.  Girls are matched with a current student and accompany her for the day, sitting in on classes and meeting her friends.
