Construction Delays Frustrate Mayors

BUFFALO, NY - In Buffalo, a state-of-the-art water feature splash pad would have been a welcome relief on a hot summer day. However, the project is behind and is incomplete.

In Niagara Falls, the Lewiston Road paving project is behind and the Mayor has pulled the plug on the contractor Man O' Trees, Inc.

2 On Your Side called the owner of Man O' Trees and the attorney representing the company. We are awaiting a response on when the Buffalo MLK project will be done and why they could not finish the Niagara Falls construction project.

Mayor Paul Dyster of the Niagara Falls says the city is seeking more than $4 million from the company. When asked if the city of Buffalo should be concerned, he said, "if I were them I would be very concerned because a neighboring municipality, Niagara Falls has had a terrible time with this particular contractor."

Mayor Byron Brown is not pleased with the delay of the MLK project which will have an ornamental pool in the spring, a wading pool in the summer and an ice skating rink in the winter.

"I don't know what problems they're (Man O' Trees) having. I know that this project is behind schedule. They were the lowest responsible bidder according to the law, that's why they were selected. We are certainly not happy with the delay, but we are working to make sure that this $4.5 million project gets completed."
