Man Charged With Killing 13-Year Old Returns to Court | News
BUFFALO, NY - Nine days after a 13-year old girl was stabbed to death, the man charged with her death was back in court.
Darshawn Morris, 21, appeared Tuesday afternoon before Buffalo City Court Judge James McLeod. Morris waived his right to a felony hearing and the the matter will now go before an Erie County Grand Jury.
13-year old Lanasha Rollerson was killed on September 1. Police have charged Morris with second-degree murder. They say he killed the girl in his Hagen Street home and dumped her body in a garage behind his home on Newburgh Street in the city.
Rollerson's family held a vigil over the weekend. Her death raised several questions about how missing persons are reported. The family reported her missing Sunday at 1 p.m. but it wasn't until Tuesday evening after 9:30 p.m. that police released information that the teen was missing. This came after a media request for information on the missing girl.
Morris was picked up at ECMC when police got a tip he was there last week. Buffalo Police have indicated they do not expect to charge anyone else in this case.
