The Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, a Western New York tradition featuring more than 30 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local products, is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine. Providing musical entertainment at the open-air venue this week, Sept. 10, will be Sean Hook.  

The market also welcomes several community groups this week, including Buffalo ReuseIT, Buffalo Animal Shelter, Canopy of Neighbors, Child & Family Services and Canisius College Women’s Athletics. Niagara Landing Wine Cellars and Freedom Run Winery will offer wine-tasting.

The market also welcomes several community groups this week, including the Richmond Ashland National Register Historic District Initiative, Buffalo Animal Shelter, Canopy of Neighbors and Hope For Cats. Leonard Oakes Estate Winery will offer wine-tasting.

Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market Lists August 27 Activities

The Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, a Western New York tradition featuring more than 30 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local products, is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine. Providing musical entertainment at the open-air venue this week, Aug. 27, will be singer/guitarist Kate Shaffer from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Members of the Niagara Frontier Plein Air Painters will also make their annual visit to the market to put their creativity on display. 

The market also welcomes several community groups this week, including the Richmond Ashland National Register Historic District Initiative, Massachusetts Avenue Project, Assumption Church and Our Lady of Black Rock School, and the popular SPCA Whisker Wag’n! Arrowhead Spring Vineyards and Schulze Vineyards & Winery will offer wine-tasting.

Brush Up Buffalo’s 15th Event to Take Place in Buffalo Promise Neighborhood

Buffalo, NY – Brush Up Buffalo, a not-for-profit, all-volunteer organization focused on revitalizing City of Buffalo neighborhoods, recently announced that it will repaint 15 low-income homes with the help of 400 volunteers in the nationally-designated Buffalo Promise Neighborhood on Saturday, September 10, 2011.

Designated avenues and streets for Brush Up Buffalo 2011 – Westminster, East Amherst, Stockbridge and Berkshire – are in a relatively tight cluster and are near Westminster Community Charter School, where Brush Up Buffalo will set up operations for check-in and lunch.  (Parking will be at the Erie County Medical Center parking lot, with shuttles to the school.)  At least 25 volunteers will be needed to paint on each house; no prior painting experience is necessary.

Providing musical entertainment at the open-air venue this week, August 20, will be violinist David Adamczyk from 10 to 11:30 a.m.  

The market also welcomes several community groups this week, including the Buffalo Animal Shelter, Richmond Ashland National Register Historic District Initiative and Child & Family Services. Liberty Vineyards & Winery and Leonard Oakes Estate Winery will offer wine-tasting.

Successful Ribbon-Cutting and Open House Held at 305 Utica

Politicians, media members and the public turned out Thursday for a ribbon-cutting and open house at 305 Utica St. in Buffalo’s Elmwood Village. The finished, nine-apartment “A” Building reached full capacity this month, with all eight luxury apartments and one studio apartment occupied. Interior construction of the twin “B” Building continues.

Known as 305 Utica, this unique residential property is within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, entertainment, galleries, outdoor festivals and concerts, and more. The buildings are highly energy-efficient, offering daylight harvesting, energy-efficient mechanical systems, low-voltage electrical fixtures, Energy Star-rated appliances and water-use reduction with low-flow plumbing fixtures.
