WNY German American Heritage Festival This Weekend

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. – Culture is the spice of life! We invite you this Labor Day Weekend, September 4 & 5 to immerse yourself in German Heritage and celebrate Gemütlichkeit!  People from across the Greater Buffalo-Niagara region with cultural roots reaching back to the countries of Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland will be in attendance with many more festival goers who simply have an interest in musik, food, and culture.

“Gemütlichkeit simply means, “being in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing, with the right people.” Where else would you rather be than at Cheektowaga Town Park eating and drinking authentic German beer and cuisine, listening to four different authentic bands, participating in contests and games, and partying for a weekend with nearly 5,000 of your friends and family?!

Admission is only $3 per person each day, children 14 and under are free; $3.00 Kinder Park Day Passes are available. 1 -10 p.m. each day.

Free Back-to-School Haircuts at Matt Urban Hope Center

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Nichole Londo, a hairstylist and former cosmetology instructor at Erie 1 BOCES, is volunteering her time to provide free back-to-school haircuts for area kids on Tuesday, August 31, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Matt Urban Hope Center, 385 Paderewski Drive, near the Central Terminal.

"This is my second free cut event at the center this summer," says Londo. "I really just want to help the children have a great look for school."

She is also collecting school supplies to donate to families who attend. "My goal is to raise at least 16 bookbags full of supplies to distribute the day of the event," she says.

Donations of school supplies for the book bags can be dropped off at Fantastic Sam's, 1526 Walden Avenue, Cheektowaga, or at the Matt Urban Hope Center.

The Walden Avenue Fantastic Sam's is Nichole's present employer and a sponsor of the free haircut events.
