Robotic Dinosaurs Run Extended Through Columbus Day Holiday

Buffalo Museum of Science will be open to the public on Monday, October 11 from 10am to 4pm

BUFFALO, NY – The Buffalo Museum of Science will extend the run of its travelling exhibit, Robotic Dinosaurs, through Monday, October 11 in order to provide families with a fun activity on their days off from work and school. This will be the final day for visitors to experience the exhibit before it closes.

Originally scheduled to close on October 10, Robotic Dinosaurs offers guests an up-close view of nine robotic dinosaurs including Tyrannosaurus Rex, Apatosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, an adult Maiasaura with eggs and hatchlings, Stegosaurus and a Pteranodon. Visitors young and old can operate a hands-on control box to move the “skeleton” of a Duckbill or feel like true paleontologists at the fossil rub stations.

Corpus Christi Church will host Hawaiian Luau on Oct. 24

Corpus Christi Church will host a Hawaiian Luau on Sunday, October 24.  All are welcome to attend the 11:30a.m. Mass, followed by the luau festivities which begin at 1:00p.m. and continue until 9:00p.m.
This family-friendly event will feature a pig roast and Hawaiian chicken buffet from 1:00p.m. - 4:00p.m., and a Tiki cash bar. A Hawaiian casino, Hawaiian music and entertainment, a raffle and theme baskets will also be offered.
Admission is just $10 per person and includes one raffle ticket for a queen size Amish quilt.  Tickets are on sale after all Sunday Masses, or at the Parish Office, 896-1050.  Free, off-street parking is available.
Come dressed in your favorite Hawaiian shirt (or not) and be ready to have a great time.
All proceeds help to preserve Corpus Christi Church, a landmark on the State and National Registers of Historic Places.

Revolutionary War Returns to Old Fort Niagara

The American Revolution returns to Old Fort Niagara and American and British forces are vying for your support. Old Fort Niagara hosts a Revolutionary War Encampment on Saturday, October 9 and Sunday, October 10.

Beginning at 10am both days, Revolutionary War re-enactors will portray both British and American forces, offering musket and artillery demonstrations throughout the day. At 1pm each day, kids and their parents will be recruited for a mock battle by either the Patriots or the British forces.

The Broadway Market is hosting the “Broadway Battle” table tennis tournament on 10/16/2010.

All proceeds from the event go to Catholic Charities of Buffalo to help purchase and distribute turkeys to families this Thanksgiving.

Children are $5, adults are $10 or 2/$14.

The round-robin style event is designed for all skill levels.

Tournament will be overseen by an Official USATT Umpire.

Prizes and honors go to top contestants.

Open warm-up and sign-in begins at 8 am, kids round-robin begins at 10 am, adults round-robin starts at 12 pm.

Holy Angels Academy Invites Girls and Their Families to Fall Open House

Holy Angels Academy will host fall Open Houses on Saturday, October 2 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and Monday, October 4 from 5 - 7 p.m.  We invite girls in grades 5th - 8th and their families to tour our campus and meet teachers and students while learning more about our academic and extra-curricular opportunities.  

Holy Angels also invites 8th graders to participate in the "Anglel for a Day" program.  This allows girls to see firsthand what a typical day is like here.  Girls are matched with a current student and accompany her for the day, sitting in on classes and meeting her friends.
