Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60)  will kick off the festivities as the first of 92 vintage race cars start to arrive at the Buffalo Transportation Pierce-Arrow Museum.  Over an hour and a half period, one car will arrive every minute.  The race cars left Traverse City, Michigan on Saturday June 16 and will end on July 1st in Dearborn, Michigan.  The Buffalo overnight stop will celebrate the city’s rich automotive history.

WHAT:          

Senator Mark Grisanti will present James Sandoro, owner of the museum, with a proclamation declaring Thursday, June 28th Vintage Race Car day in Buffalo.   After the cars have arrived, there will be activities over the weekend honoring the winner of the original Great Race of 1908 from New York to Paris which was a Buffalo-built Thomas Flyer driven by Buffalonian George Schuster.  The Thomas Flyer was built in a factory on Niagara Street that once stood where Rich Products is today.
