‘Murder at Maple Springs’ is Latest Release from No Frills Buffalo Publishing

“Murder at Maple Springs,” written by Western New York native Robert John Terreberry, is the latest release from No Frills Buffalo publishing company. Terreberry, a native of Niagara Falls, currently resides in Maple Springs.

In reality, Maple Springs is a beautiful spot on Lake Chautauqua, south of Buffalo and just north of the Pennsylvania border. It's a restful and inviting summer community bent on offering successful R&R.

In fiction, Maple Springs also exists in the same geographical location where summers lakeside are great and the people are terrific, but author Terreberry has created a community of people who vacation, play and solve mysteries together. In his debut mystery novel, the first in a series, protagonist Colin O'Brien and his wife Vonny have just moved into a retirement home in The Springs when a body is found in a neighbor’s lakeside cottage. Things become complicated when the victim’s three stepdaughters from Savannah, GA, come north to “protect their interests” when a change in a will is brought to light. Sibling rivalries, jealousy, deceit, death and burglary collide to form a complicated exchange of truths, half-truths and lies. O’Brien becomes the “deputy in residence” in The Springs and partners with County Sheriff Joe Green and his crime scene team, along with getting help from other community members, to find the murderer and the stolen items and return Maple Springs to its safe and laid-back fictional reality.

Terreberry and his wife Irene currently live in Maple Springs after residing in nearby Jamestown for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy, is a retired special education teacher and spent 13 years as the director of a foster grandparent program. During the Jamestown years, Bob and Irene were a consistent part of the theatre scene, participated in charity fundraising and raised three children.

A “Murder at Maple Springs” book launch has been set for Tuesday, Oct. 25 at the Bemus Point Library, 13 Main St., Bemus Point.
