Do you think you have an award-winning recipe?  Can you be creative with a carving knife?

If so, the Friends of the Burchfield Nature & Art Center want you to share your finest baking and artistic talents with the community.

Register to enter the Pie Baking Contest or Pumpkin Carving Contest that will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Burchfield Nature & Art Center, 2001 Union Road, West Seneca.

Your skills are needed to assist the Friends of Burchfield in their fundraising efforts to help provide many community events and programs at the Center throughout the year.

A trio of known pie-tasting experts will judge the fruit-filled and pumpkin pies. Several other artistically inclined individuals will rate the carved pumpkins for creativity and character. The public is invited to observe the judging.

Following the awards presentations, everyone can enjoy the taste of victory. Pies will be sold for a$1 per slice. Complimentary coffee will be available.

The carved pumpkins will be raffled at the Fall Festival the next day, Sunday, Oct. 7, from noon to 4 p.m., at the Center.

Those who do not wish to enter the contests are encouraged to attend – and bring their appetites – on Oct. 6.

Contest entry forms are available at www.BurchfieldNAC.org or at the Center, 2001 Union Road in West Seneca. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. The entry deadline is Sept. 14. For more information, call 677-4843.
