Jericho Ministry Announces Plans to Become a Federally Qualified Health Center

BUFFALO, NY- Jericho Road Ministries (JRM) in partnership with their founding organization, Jericho Road Family Practice (JRFP), is moving forward with plans to become a Federally Qualified Health Center.  The Family Practice is applying for Article 28 State certification and will be applying for Federal certification next year.

Founded in 1997 by Dr. Myron and Joyce Glick to provide excellent medical care on the East and West Sides of Buffalo, Jericho Road Family Practice has nine medical providers and serves over 30,000 patients a year.

Jericho Road Ministries, formed in 2003, is the non-profit adjunct to the Jericho Road Family Practice.  JRM facilitates wellness and self-sufficiency in the lives of refugee and low-income community members in the West Side of Buffalo by addressing health, education, and economic barriers.  Through twelve community programs, JRM sustains over 2,000 clients per month.

In preparation for this transition, JRM announced ten new board members.  They are:

Anita Simons, CPA, Commercial Branch Manager, M&T Bank; Richard Vienne Jr., DO, Medical Director of Univera Community Health; Claity Massey, Ph.D, Founder and Director of King Center Charter School; Gary Violanti, JD, Special Agent FBI; John Lee, Retired Vice President of Praxair, Active West Side Community Resident; Mark Roberson, Founder and Pastor of Faith Word Fellowship; Lynn Grucza, NP, Erie County Medical Center; Russel Bell, BS in Management, Active East Side Community Resident; David Holmes, MD, University at Buffalo Medical School, Founder of Good Neighbors Medical Clinic; Rev. Geri Lyon, DD, M.Div, Retired Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Active West Side Community Resident.

The JRM Board also unanimously appointed Stephanie Lipnicki as the Executive Director for Jericho Road Ministries.  She has been serving the role on an interim basis since her former director resigned at the end of June.

JRM and JRFP look forward to an organizational merger.  Their shared vision is for Buffalo to become a city with abundant opportunity for the undeserved, and for the marginalized to be healthy, educated, and whole.  Their plans to become a Federally Qualified Health Center will dramatically increase their capacity to meet the needs of Buffalo’s poor.
